Since their first release, 'The Awakening' (Adrenalin Germany), York has been the name on everyone's lips. Catchy guitar hooks and delicate dance textures have caused a sensation in clubs, on the radio, in the charts across Europe, and at the same time created a whole new flavour of Ibiza trance-house.

York are the very talented brothers Torsten and Jorg Stenzel. Torsten is currently one of the hottest and most in demand producers in Germany having worked with the likes of DJ Sakin and Friends on 'Protect Your Mind' (Braveheart), 'Nomansland' (Positiva), DJ Taucher (Positiva), Ayla (Positiva) and Red Light District etc... Torsten Stenzel is without a doubt THE 'Master of Trance'.

He began his musical career early in his childhood, learning the piano from the tender age of 5 when he began his classical training. Until the age of 16 classical music and theory were his life, even playing the church organ in his home town for 2 years. In the early 90's his orientation changed and he discovered the rapidly growing techno/house movement.

Little by little he put together his own studio and combined parts of his own musical production skills under the broad control of classical theory. His first success came in 1992 with N.U.K.E's 'Nana' which shot to number 3 in the charts in Holland, Belgium and Italy.

From there Torsten began working with a variety of DJ's, such as Taucher with whom he created the tracks 'Infinity', 'Miracle', and 'Fantasy', all of which went Top 100 in the German charts. His reputation began to grow overseas, culminating in releases and chart success predominantly with Positiva in the UK. Today Torsten continues to mix & produce with some of the biggest names, including John Aquaviva, Mogwai, DJ Sakin, DJ Taucher, Faithless, Culture Beat and more recently Three Drives On A Vinyl's 'Greece 2000'. His own more progressive remixes go out under the name 'Suspicious Mix' and in 1997 he was voted 2nd best remixer of the year by Germany's top Raveline Magazine. Meanwhile he continues to release records on his own Liquid Records and Planet Love labels and together has had over 170 releases and sold over 1million records.

The other Stenzel brother is Jorg, from whence the name 'York' was derived. His friends (especially the foreign ones) have always called him York and so the name stuck - As his virtuoso guitar playing is one of the key elementsof their tracks, the name of the group came naturally... At the age of 11 Jorg was interested in stringed instruments, the guitar in particular, and characteristic of great guitarists such as Hendrix and Santana, played in a variety of bands, pushing the experimental side of his nature. Jorg has also become an outstanding contributor in the studio, and in 1997 whilst he was busy with ideas to combine guitar anthems with current house and trance grooves, his brother joined him with his own ideas and 'York' was born.

In 1998 they wrote the debut single 'The Awakening' which was released to wide acclaim (initially only available in UK on import and heavily caned by the likes of Pete Tong), and have expanded into playing live, becoming one of clubland's most booked acts throughout Europe and the US. With follow up singles 'Jastamba' and 'On The Beach' continuing the run of success, York's reputation grows stronger still. Stay tuned...........
